Diddly Squat Farming, LLC., was founded by a Black woman and military veteran, December 2020. This 5 acre farm engages in multipurpose farming, is eco-friendly, and will provide high-quality products such as hemp flower, lavender, culinary mushrooms, and other specialty crops and services that customers can enjoy and trust. The owner is a Certified Farm Operator and Certified Hemp Grower by the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
The owner's roots are from a generation of family farming from the 1950s through 2000. She has a strong mission of community engagement and involvement. The farm employs military veterans, county residents, and recruits recent college graduates and under-graduates in the areas of environmental science, agriculture, horticulture, sales, and marketing from local colleges and universities in Maryland to serve on the Diddly Squat Farming team in various capacities.
Focus on the People, the Community, the Environment, and promote diversity and inclusion on the Diddly Squat Farming Team. Our contribution to work force development includes creating jobs for veterans, college students, Grad students in agriculture, science, horticulture, and marketing. Our contribution to the environment, partnering with local farmers throughout the BIPOC community to captured sequestered carbon data to study the effects of carbon greenhouse gas on the climate, using solar panels to contribute to clean renewable energy, applying rain catchment systems to water crops, and using innovative growing techniques and technology such as applying blockchain technology to enhance farming efficiency.
