Diddly Squat Farming, LLC., was founded by a Black woman and military veteran, December 2020. The farm is 5-acres, engages in multipurpose farming, is eco-friendly, and will provide high-quality specialty crops such as hemp flower, lavender, and culinary mushrooms for customers to depend and rely on, with products and services they can trust. The farm is USDA GAP Certified and will have a resounding impact on the surrounding environment, health, and economy.
The owner's roots are from a generation of family farming from the 1950s through 2000, and she has a strong mission of community engagement and involvement. The farm will employ Veterans, residents of the county and will recruit recent college graduates and under-graduates in the areas of environmental science, agriculture, horticulture, sales, and marketing from local colleges and universities in Maryland to serve on the Diddly Squat Farming team in various capacities.
Focus on the People, the Community, and the Environment. Our contribution to work force development includes creating job opportunities for veterans, college students both graduates and under-graduates in agriculture, science, horticulture, and jobs for member of the local community. Our contribution to the environment, partnering with local farmers throughout the BIPOC community to captured sequestered carbon data to study the effects of carbon greenhouse gas on the climate, using solar panels to contribute to clean renewable energy, applying rain catchment systems to water crops, and using innovative growing techniques and technology such as applying blockchain technology to enhance farming efficiency.
